What to expect when commissioning me

The process, demystified

  1. Inquiry & Intake: Client submits the intake form.

  2. Quote & Contract: Artist reviews the form, asks any necessary follow-up questions, and provides a detailed quote and a formal contract outlining scope, usage rights, and payment terms.

  3. Deposit & Booking: Client signs the contract and submits the non-refundable deposit (typically 50%). The project is officially booked.

  4. Concept & Sketching: Artist creates 1-3 preliminary sketches/digital mock-ups for the client's review.

  5. Sketch Approval & Revision: Client provides feedback. One major revision to the sketch is usually included. Further major revisions may incur a fee.

  6. Creation Phase (No Major Changes): The artist begins the final physical painting or artwork. Changes at this stage are limited to minor color tweaks or small details. Major changes to composition will require a new commission.

  7. Final Review & Approval: Artist sends high-quality photographs of the completed physical artwork for final client approval.

  8. Final Payment & Delivery: Client submits the final 50% payment (plus shipping/framing costs). The artwork is varnished (if applicable), packaged professionally, insured, and shipped.
